1 Corinthians 1:26-31The Lord has not put a premium on ignorance. Those who are wise and respected in the eyes of the world are swelled with pride, and depend on their own abilities. Carnal people would choose the cream of the crop to represent their interests. God Almighty does just the opposite. People at their best, in the natural, are still infinitely lower than God at His worst. There could never be anyone qualified to accurately represent God. When we become nobodies in our own eyes, we can become somebodies in God's eye. We must confront the fact that by ourselves we are nothing, and find our new identities in Christ. The Bible proves our need for God, and reveals our frailties. This is positive, if we don't stop there. God chooses to use those who are nothing, by the world's standards, so no one else can take credit for the great things that are accomplished. One of Satan's greatest weapons against those who are being used by God is the temptation to think the Lord is using them because of some superior virtue they possess. Religious teachings which harp on our, worthlessness in the flesh, does more damage than good. Without the positive good news of our newfound value in Christ, they becomes club that beats the life out of us. The new birth doesn't just produce a changed life, but an exchanged life. The Lord doesn't make our flesh wise, righteous, sanctified, or redeemed. He becomes our wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. People who recognize their complete inability and learn to lean on Christ's ability will have no reason to misdirect the glory to themselves.
